ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I am retired teacher of Science and Mathematics. During the final years of teaching I taught English as an additional language. I published my first book in March last year at the age of 72, I actually wrote the book 40 years ago along with the second book in my War Torn series. They spent years in my wardrobe until my daughter asked to read them a couple of years ago. They were actually better than I remembered. So, with a developmental edit and many edits by myself followed by line edits, I finally got War Torn Book 1 published in March 2023, followed by Book 2 in October 2023. My WIP is a time travel romance and when that is published it's on to War Torn Book 3. Great to be on Crave Books. I'm sure I will learn a great deal.

Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

I am a retired teacher of maths and science. For the last few years of my teaching career I taught English as an additional language. I am presently living in a small hamlet in Wales with my husband, and 2 cavalier dogs. I love walking and gardening and seeing and spending time with my children and granddaughters. I used to sing opera and took leading roles in many Gilbert and Sullivan operettas.

When and why did you start writing books?

I have always enjoyed making up stories. I wrote War Torn Books 1 and 2 40 years ago. There was little interest in WW2 at the time and so I put my manuscripts in the wardrobe for 39 years. My daughter asked to read them and they were better than I remembered. They are both now self published and I have just published a stand alone book Fragments of Time, which I would describe as a very English time slip story which takes place around a village in which I used to live. I am presently writing War Torn Book 3.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

Writing was always an interest and I wrote my first two books many years ago. It's something I enjoyed doing and so I have found time to write again now I am retired.

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

War Torn Book 1 definitely.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

Fragments of Time. I struggled with the ending. Although it was in my head it was difficult to get it onto paper.

Who is your favourite author and book?

I love deep big books. It has to be War and Peace by Tolstoy. I do love Ken Follet's books and also enjoyed C J Sansom's books

What book are you reading right now?

Dominion by Sansom

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

If something catches my attention I like to think about alternatives. I sort of think "What would happen if?"

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

reading and at the moment catching up with sleep........

Do you have any new books in the works?

War Torn Book 3 is presently being written. I have another couple of ideas too.
