ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Cassandra Aston grew up near Austin, TX on a ranch just outside the city. He holds a BA in Communications and an MS in Psychology, from USC. Her love of reading and writing began when she was nine years old. She is a fan of all things fantasy but especially loves the Fae.

Although her first series Prophecies of Angels and Demons doesn’t delve into the realm of the Fae, her 2022 NaNoWriMo project, which will be released in 2024, is an urban fantasy, stand-alone story that will take the reader deep into the world of Faerie.

Cassandra currently lives in Houston, TX with her family of four.

Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

I love reading, hiking, and visiting new places. Small towns with cute shops are a favorite of mine.

When and why did you start writing books?

I took my first stab at writing a book when I was 12. I wrote my own version of goosebumps books for friends in middle school and then gave the books to them.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

I've always loved writing, it was something I did as a hobby for many years. One day I said, it would be nice if I could do this full time and so I did!

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

My favorite character is Elora. She's the character in a book I'm working on now. It is tentatively titled "Out" and will be released in 2024.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

It's a book I actually haven't finished yet. I've been working on it for more than 5 years but it's a very dark dystopian fantasy novel that takes the reader to earth many years from now. Humanity fights for survival in a world that evolved to kill us and to be a woman is the most challenging task of all.

Who is your favourite author and book?

Who has one favorite? I don't. I love many different writers for their unique and varied abilities. I think the most impactful writer in my life was Marion Zimmer Bradley. She proved to me that women could be writers. They could write fantasy; from a woman's perspective, and a book doesn't have to conform to the less than 400 pages rule to be a mainstream favorite.

What book are you reading right now?

I'm currently deep in edits for my second book in the Prophecies of Angels & Demons trilogy and will release it early in 2024.

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

Dreams, daydreams, and just the thoughts that come into my head and will not leave unless I write them down on paper.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I like hiking and being outside in nature.

Do you have any new books in the works?

Yes! I am finishing the Trilogy mentioned above, finishing my NanoWriMo 22 project - "Out" and I have my passion project - yet unnamed - that I often open, make sure it's still there and then don't finish.
