When and why did you start writing books?

I have been writing books for as long as I can remember (my first ones were scribbled with crayons on construction paper). I just cannot NOT write; the words come spilling out. I write today because I am passionate about sharing my stories with the world.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

I have my husband, Jikyo, to thank for that. Shortly after my youngest son was born my husband saw the 'meh' mentality of day-to-day life hitting me hard. He read my debut Epic Fantasy novel, The Vow That Twisted Fate, and encouraged me to genuinely give writing a try. Everything has been downhill from there.

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

Each of my books is so special to me, that it is impossible to choose a favorite. I do truly enjoy bringing the fantasy world in my upcoming novel, Starfire Express: A Flame of Fae and Fang, to life though as the main character is so different from me and there is a new world at every corner.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

Volume 2 of a vampire trilogy I started was the hardest, and I eventually decided to completely cut it and make the series a duology. My stories 'tell' themselves, and that volume (connecting the events between books one and three) just felt forced and faked. Receiving developmental feedback from editors is always the hardest aspect of being a writer, because I have to learn to detach from the story enough to see the genuine flaws without taking it personally. Writing is an art, after all. We improve with each new story we write.

Who is your favourite author and book?

The Lord of the Rings (namely Fellowship of the Ring) by J.R.R. Tolkien ties pretty close with Hawksong by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes

What book are you reading right now?

I am currently reading -and thoroughly enjoying- "Realm" (a portal fantasy) by Jessica Cantwell.

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

I usually dream large scenes from them, and the book builds from there. I also rely heavily on my sister as a muse and sounding-board for my stories.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I love to read, play video games, hang out with friends/family, and grill out.

Do you have any new books in the works?

Yes, I have two novellas for my Splitting Worlds series in the works, with Down Falls The King coming out in December 2021. I also have two full-length novels in the works. One is the first volume of a duology, called Starfire Express: A Flame of Fae and Fang, which is being published by Starry Ink Press. The other will be included in the Realm of Darkness box set (a collection of 40+ full-length paranormal/fantasy romance novels by award-winning and best-selling authors) which comes out in October 2021 but is already available for pre-order.
