ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Liz Ellyn nourishes people’s cravings for the irresistible. Like the decadent desserts she delivers, she creates alluring characters deserving of happy endings.

With degrees in both engineering and law, she argues that the positive energy gained by indulging in one’s guilty pleasure appropriately counterbalances the serious forces of daily life.

When she isn’t writing or devouring steamy romance books, she spoils her family, including her two dogs, Boomer and Tanner.

When and why did you start writing books?

My writing roots trace back to law school and my time as an attorney, where words were my weapon and storytelling my craft. But it wasn’t until years later, while crisscrossing the country for my kids’ tennis tournaments, that my love for romance novels truly ignited. Reading on the road became an obsession, and before I knew it, my love of writing and passion for romance collided. That fusion resulted in the publication of two erotic romance novels and ideas for plenty more to come.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

Drama and banter inspire me to write. I crave it on the page and on the screen (hello, medical dramas!) Romance, at its core, is a journey through love and pain. The best stories make you cry for the characters, feel their heartbreak, and then celebrate their joy. And yes, I’ve got a bit of a naughty streak. Where that came from, who knows? But I’ve always loved a cheeky innuendo, a titillating double entendre, and the thrill of wordplay. Even back in college, while studying engineering, I entertained myself by turning dry theorems into risqué mnemonics. Writing sizzling romance is just a natural extension of that playful energy

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

That's like asking a parent which child is your favorite! That said, I have a particular soft spot for Seth in Willful Parties. I wrote his character with a burning desire to cast shame on any parent who ever bullied their LGBTQ child.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

Overruling Judgment was the first book I published. The editing process was long as I had much to learn as a romance writer. I learned to love editing, making the characters come alive on the page.

Who is your favourite author and book?

Some of my favorite authors include: Tiffany Reisz (The Original Sinners Series), Lauren Dane (Brown Family Series), and Shayla Black. I admire how they boldly push boundaries, explore polyamory, and create incredibly spicy, thought-provoking romances.

What book are you reading right now?

This morning, I was listening to the audiobook Lights Out by Navessa Allen. But by the end of the day, I might be diving into my next audiobook, like A Ryan Recollection by Sadie Kincaid. My digital library is constantly evolving!

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

If you want to see where the sparks of my creativity fly, you’ll have to join me in the shower. Seriously! That’s where the hottest ideas (pun intended) come to life, under the soothing spray of water. My poor water heater can barely keep up.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I love to bake. I encourage indulging in life’s guilty pleasures, both spicy romance novels and sweet treats. I have posted many of my desserts on my website at https://lizellyn.com/treats/

Do you have any new books in the works?

I currently have five books in the works. The book to follow Willful Parties, is sitting on my editor’s desk. This will involve a new group of three involved in a polyamorous relationship with a completely different romantic dynamic. I hope to get it published in 2025. I am currently writing a novella to follow Overruling Judgment and also hope to publish it in 2025.
