When Diana crashes back into Barrett’s life, he’s thrilled his childhood best friend gets along so well with his football teammates. The flutter in his heart and the drop in his stomach is more than just a desire to catch up after a few years at separate colleges. Diana needs her best friend, and Barrett has always been there for her. So what if she had a crush on him when they were teenagers? It’s not ideal, but nothing in her life feels right now that her dad is sick and she gives up her full-ride to transfer to her safety school, a program with a losing record and an even worse reputation. 

As they embark on their senior year—him as a defensive captain on the football team, she as the new girl on the conference’s worst soccer team—they grow close again, as if the years and the distance haven’t separated them at all. 

They share everything—secrets and fears, hopes and dreams, and sometimes even a bed. She’s sure it’s platonic and he’s the same good friend that could never see her in that way. She’s wrong, but Barrett can’t bring himself to say the words, risking their friendship right when they both need it most.

College won’t last forever—and as the clock winds down on their final season, Diana is forced to decide what she values more: the safety of their fifteen year friendship - or the chance of losing it all if they try for more?
