ABOUT THE AUTHOR

A Baltimore-based author writing dark fantasy. Check out my debut: "The Banished Societies: the City of Lilies!"

Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

I love reading, cooking, and traveling! I actually work as a traveling corporate trainer and I love getting to try all kinds of food. I'm a proud Baltimore resident, and still love that I can find new things in my city every day.

When and why did you start writing books?

I've been writing since I was a child! I would write short stories about events happening around me, and I always thought I would be the next Nancy Drew.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

When a world or story gets into my head, I cannot let it go. I have too many stories running around in my brain, and I love being apart of a community where I get to share these crazy ideas.

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

I'm impartial to Thorgeal. Originally, he was going to be a plain dwarf who checked all the tropes, but I've loved developing him as a softy. He's been my greatest challenge in regards to vocal tone and creating more interesting characters, and he's always close to my heart!

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

Definitely the Banished Societies. I've been working on it for a little over ten years, mostly because I lost two drafts of it due to a website shutting down without warning, and just life in general. It's been my greatest challenge, but I'm still shocked that I can hold a copy in my hands!

Who is your favourite author and book?

My favorite book is "Flowers for Algernon." I'm in the process of rereading it! It was the first book that really caught my attention when it came to vocal tone, and I haven't been able to shake the enthusiasm for it.

What book are you reading right now?

Wildwood by Collin Meloy!

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

I get inspiration from a mixture of dreams, plus putting into the world what I would want to read.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Videogames! I love playing with my husband and best friends, and enjoy a great storytelling game.

Do you have any new books in the works?

Yes! I am working on my second novel which continues from my first.
