ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I am an aspiring writer and have been writing fiction and non-fiction for several years. My first book "The Flowers of Hiraeth House" has evolved a lot over time. I started writing it six years ago and have enjoyed every moment of it. I've lived in the United Kingdom, Italy and the United States. I live with a little French Bulldog, Gatsby (sometimes mistakenly referred to as Hemingway), who helps inspire me to write and enjoy even the most insignificant moments of life every day. I have two Masters degrees from Georgetown University and am pursuing a PhD at Stanford University.

Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

I am first and foremost a historian, an artist and a writer. Writing is my hobby and what I live for.

When and why did you start writing books?

I have always wanted to write books-- a little cliché I'm sure-- but true.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

My day job compromises writing non-fiction, so writing my own books that stem from my imagination and deepest corners of the subconscious mind provide a bit of an escape from my everyday life.

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

I have, so far, published one book, "The Flowers of Hiraeth House," so for now I would say the protagonist, Rose is particularly intriguing. I used the first person to shape her narrative, so that we could fully delve into her quirky and eerie persona to unravel how strange the thinking-process can be and how limited our own thinking is-- as her story, as she recounts it, is full of pitfalls.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

It took me several years to gather up the courage to publish this book. I never thought I would. Mostly, it was written while I was pursuing my undergraduate degree about six-seven years ago.

Who is your favourite author and book?

I have too many! George Orwell, Oscar Wilde and Sylvia Plath are all authors I deeply admire. The Brontë sisters, Mary Shelley and so many more are what I grew up reading and their words will always reside in my very soul!

What book are you reading right now?

I am re-reading the Bell Jar, one can never re-read Sylvia Plath too many times.

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

People. Places. Objects.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I enjoy hiking, learning new languages, reading, running, and swimming in my spare time.

Do you have any new books in the works?

Probably. I have several books in the works--bits and pieces that I have yet to fully unravel.
