ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Anne Martin is a contemporary romance author who lives for the steam, swoon, and twists that lead to a happily ever after. Expect some windows to fog and laughs to be had as her characters heat up your pages.

Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

I'm a booktrovert who spends her days typing away at coffee shops/bookstores. To balance out hours sitting on my tush, I like to cycle on my peloton to music so loud I can't hear my own thoughts.

When and why did you start writing books?

I wrote my first book when I was in high school. It was about pirates going to a gym in search of gold. I write to keep from looking like I'm talking to myself... I swear it's the characters in my head I'm talking to.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

When I read a book that brought me to tears from the emotional roller coaster it put me through. I realized, this is what I want to do. I want to use words to invoke emotions and help people tackle things they didn't know they needed to confront. But we're going to laugh and cry and dream along the way.

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

Keelan Landry. Team Captain of the Heatwave hockey team. He reminds me of my husband the most and encompasses a lot of traits that I just adore.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

Penalty Shots... it's book 5 of the Heatwave hockey series and the final book. I feel like I've been on a personal journey with all these characters and I've stalled the most in closing it out with the added pressure of going out with a bang for all the readers that have been on this journey alongside me.

Who is your favourite author and book?

... this question is just... oh man. If I have to pick one it would be Jennifer Hartmann, Still Beating. Just... wow.

What book are you reading right now?

I'm re-reading Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score. Love those characters!

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

People. The delivery guy. The girl ordering coffee in front of me. The people in my world. I've always been very observant and it helps to see the humanity all around me and be curious about what made them the way they are.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Going outside. Preferably in the shade and with a pina colada in hand.

Do you have any new books in the works?

Many. I have a new sports series coming soon and diving into a new team with fun new dynamics will be very interesting. I can't wait for you to meet them. Heck, I can't wait to meet them!
