ABOUT THE AUTHOR

BRAD DUDE spent his career providing leadership training, organization development, program evaluation, workforce training, coaching, and project management services to U.S. Government agencies, public and non-profit organizations, and private sector enterprises in more than thirty territories and countries around the world. He is the co-developer of “The Basic Elements of Temperament,” a model that explores how personal temperament influences the behaviors of leaders, managers, and employees in organizations. He brings a leadership and management background to his consulting, having served as a senior staff member in two countries for a U.S. Government agency and similar positions in several other organizations in the Washington, DC area, as well as in New Orleans, where he now makes his home with his wife, Sue. He has one son and three grandsons. He has written six books on leadership and also several screenplays.

Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

I am a retired leadership and management consultant now focusing on my writing. I love sports and films. I live in New Orleans so there is always something going on!

When and why did you start writing books?

I started writing in the 70s serving as a Volunteer and staff member for Peace Corps in Micronesia and Samoa. I continued to write on non-fiction topics while traveling to various international locations conducting leadership and management workshops for government and private sector clients.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

With Covid cancelling most of my live training programs, I focused entirely on my writing.

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

In my novel, "Finding Eden: A Perilous Quest For a Safe Migrant Homeland," my favorite character is a funny pirate cook who doesn't really consider himself a pirate.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

The research on migrants and the challenges they face trying to get through the Sahara Desert was the hardest to do because there is so much to go through in order to make the journeyl as accurate as possible. In fact I have included a FREE complementary story on that desert trek in "Finding Eden."

Who is your favourite author and book?

I have many but if I had to choose it would be "Lost Horizons" by James Hilton.

What book are you reading right now?

Just finished The Chianti Chronicles" by Kevin Cullen

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

For my non-fiction books on leadership and management, my inspiration came from my many workshop participants from such client groups as NASA, and the engineers and scientists of the Naval Surface Warfare Centers. For my fiction, I'm inspired by news events such as the challenges faced by migrants.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I enjoy watching sports and movies.

Do you have any new books in the works?

I've been working on converting my novel "Finding Eden" into a screenplay and TV series.
