ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Dr. Dana Zavatkay is a licensed psychologist and a behavior analyst. Atlanta has been Dana’s home for more than 20 years. She moved from New Orleans, Louisiana to complete her doctoral program and remained. Dana is a long-time volunteer coach for Girls on The Run and has provided consultation to make this and other after school programs more inclusive and accepting. She has served on numerous boards in the Metropolitan Atlanta area spreading her passion for addressing the often overlooked and underemphasized needs of many neurodiverse people- the need and desire for succeeding by connecting and being accepted- Dana is a confident, compassionate, and at times witty, person who values time with family and friends, connecting, remaining active, and being present for others. When not working, Dana enjoys an active lifestyle traveling, running, paddle-boarding, and generally being outdoors. Dana is a fitness fanatic and a self-acclaimed foodie who thoroughly enjoys good meals with friends. In quiet moments, she can be found watching crime dramas, reading in a hammock, or on long walks in the park with her dog, Nottely, who was named after her and her husband’s happy place – Lake Nottely in north Georgia.
