ABOUT THE AUTHOR

David R. Leng is the international best-selling author of four business books and has spoken to business groups across the US and Canada. With his passion for writing, David has written short stories for decades that family and friends have enjoyed. He has turned his focus to writing novels. Splitting his time between Southwestern Pennsylvania and Western Maryland, David has long been intrigued by the local legend regarding hidden treasures buried deep in the region. This passion for history inspired him to construct this historical fiction thriller based on the centuries-old mystery surrounding British Major General Edward Braddock's Lost Gold which went missing during the French & Indian War (Seven Year's War) during his long march from Alexandria, VA to retake Fort Duquesne (Now Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania).

Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

When I'm not busy being the Chief Risk Officer for a growing, mid-sized insurance and financial services firm, I tend to spend a lot of time with my family and friends, most of that time outdoors. I continue to write an hour every day and read as much as I can.

When and why did you start writing books?

My first books were non-fiction, related to helping employers address the risks and issues that their businesses' face. However, I have written short stories that family and friends have enjoyed for most of my life.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

I had several ideas that friends thought would make excellent stories.

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

The Lord of the Rings.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

Insured to Fail: Why so many businesses fail after suffering an insured catastrophe? Interviewing over a hundred business owners who failed and sharing their stories about what happened and what they could or should have done differently was heartbreaking.

Who is your favourite author and book?

Tolkien. It is the vast details of the story Tolkien created and the feelings you experience as you read them that I love. But from a thriller or mystery standpoint, I like Clive Cussler, Dan Brown, Agatha Christie, and James Patterson.

What book are you reading right now?

Clive Cussler: The Corsican Shadow:

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

Legends - They often have some sort of truth behind them.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I enjoy boating, skiing, hiking, bicycling, woodworking, and supporting our local high school musical productions by teaching students how to build sets.

Do you have any new books in the works?

Yes. It has to do with a legend surrounding the end of the Civil War and Confederate President Jefferson Davis, and how a radical group that started back then reemerges today. It is a thriller as opposed to a thriller with a treasure hunt.
