ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Franklyn Comissiong was born on the picturesque island of Grenada, nestled in the southern Caribbean. Growing up in the quaint village of La Digue in the parish of St. Andrew, he developed a fascination with aviation from a young age, often watching in awe as airplanes soared overhead, en route to Pearls airport. Despite facing skepticism from peers, Franklyn pursued his dream of flying, leaving his job at a local bank to migrate to Canada in 1969. There, he embarked on his aviation journey, eventually becoming a skilled commercial pilot. In a poignant twist of fate, his mother's passing coincided with his commercial pilot's check ride, serving as a bittersweet reminder of her enduring presence in his life. After a fulfilling career that culminated in commanding a Boeing 767 on his final flight from Campinas, Brazil to Miami, Franklyn now enjoys a well-deserved retirement, reflecting on a life lived with passion and perseverance in the skies.
