ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Javier Moreno has a passion for writing since his High School years and he has tried to continue nurturing that. He enjoys the works of Stephen King and James Patterson but also devours teen/adult fiction like the Miss Peregrine series whenever he has time. His main hobby is flying Radio Control Helicopters and has dwelled into computers and console gaming. He lives in Wisconsin with his wife and two kids.

Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

Although I love writing I have to admit it is not my main hobby. That honor belongs to Radio Control Helicopters. I also really enjoy playing computer games. But lately I caught the writing bug, but I do have to say I have been writing for many years on and off. I also did take on fishing last year.

When and why did you start writing books?

It all started in High School. I come from Mexico so one of my classes was English and they asked us for a book as a final project. I paired up with a friend that didn't want to write but had a natural talent for illustrations, so I wrote the book and he did all the illustrations. I wish I still had a copy of that book someplace, but it got lost in digital media as time moved on.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

I don't believe I can make a career out of writing. I do enjoy it immensely, however I don't believe I have that many books inside of me. So far I have three. The one I have published, another one that is complete but I want to add a chapter to it, and one that is on the works, which is a rewriting of my first book.

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

My second book revolves around a serial killer, but I enjoyed writing the detective on that book, and I was thinking to spin that off into its own.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

My second one, definitely. I consider that my "masterpiece" if you will. I really enjoyed it but was difficult to keep track of all the details.

Who is your favourite author and book?

Any Alex Cross book by James Patterson.

What book are you reading right now?

Detective Cross by James Patterson.

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

They usually revolve around a theme. My very first one was born out of the idea of writing a book with a bad/negative ending. I achieved my goal as one of my classmates didn't like the ending and wrote a follow-up book to mine (which I oddly still have). My serial killer book was around the idea to make a killer so that the reader would be repulsed by its work and ended up hating him. The one that I just published was just inspiration from Stephen King's "The Stand" and the movie "I Am Legend".

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

When there is nice weather I love to go out fly my radio control helicopters. Last year I took fishing but I feel that won't last too long. On winter months I try to practice to gain better flying skills but also I like to produce YouTube videos on tips and tricks and I am a co-host on a podcast related to radio control helicopters.

Do you have any new books in the works?

Yes, I am currently rewriting my first book. The main point of the book is the same but the plot and characters other than the main character are all different.
