Jeannie Troll

Jeannie Troll Muller is a clinical social worker and creative person residing in Santa Cruz CA. She is surrounded by wonderful family, friends and creatures and is not fond of speaking of herself in the third person. 

Hi. My name is Jeannie and when I was a kid my last name was Troll. I felt more like myself then, so I l have used that name.

​Usually, my mind is flighty and won’t perch on one thought at a time. I am always chasing vagrant notions, or their leavings, around my brain. Then there are the ones that roost.

​A few of these inspired me to write A Clever Girl. I have always wondered, for instance, what life would have been like for a female Leonardo. Undoubtedly, she would have been trapped, like Maria Mozart, by the demands of matrimony. Still, her take on the world would be intriguing.

​Another abiding interest is the dark ages. Literacy dwindled and the veil between the worlds grew thin. Images of people became childlike and cartoony.  Saints possessed super-powers. How would it feel to dwell in this atmosphere that harbored the unseen?

​These, and other, resident curiosities gave rise to the Clever Girl series.
