ABOUT THE AUTHOR

From the click of the keys on her computer keyboard to the resonating chords of keys on a piano, Jessa Nevins approaches life as a melody of fiction writing and music. Working in the Los Angeles music industry as a teen, she gained rich experiences in several capacities, from creative development and performance to promotions and business that ultimately contributed to a lucrative career. Her passion for storytelling drives her to develop new ways of creating interesting characters and page-turning narratives. She’s a proud dog mom living in Los Angeles.

Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

I love all things music related, of course. As far as hobbies, I'm a self-professed foodie and love spending time with my toy poodle-havanese mix, Pennie. I'm a city-dweller and like to split my time between Los Angeles and New York City.

When and why did you start writing books?

I started writing novellas at 12 years old and transitioned into writing novels at 15. But, I told stories long before that. According to my mother, as soon as I could talk I was telling stories. I would grab one of her magazines, climb into her lap and start flipping through the pages telling her a wild tale that I pulled out of the ether. She said this started when I was around two years old.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

Lots of encouragement from friends and family that had read my work.

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

My favorite character is Kit McKenna. She's been with me for a very long time and it so multi-layered and passionate it's fun to write for her.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

Book 2, Platinum Promises, that comes out on October 29th was a difficult book to write in certain chapters. It definitely stretched me as a writer.

Who is your favourite author and book?

My favorite author is Jackie Collins and I loved her book, Lady Boss.

What book are you reading right now?

I'm taking a break from reading at the moment as I'm in development for the 3rd book in Star Maker series. I find that staying away from other fiction works is necessary so there isn't cross-pollination or ideas from other works pulled into mine. This keeps my ideation and storylines true to the characters when in development.

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

Life and other art--music, TV shows, movies

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Playing with my dog, hanging with friends and family, and finding a hole-in-the-wall with a Michelin star rating

Do you have any new books in the works?

Yes! Book 3 in the Star Maker series is currently in development.
