Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

My name is Kamina Sethna. Currently, I am a senior in High School. But I am also training to be an EMT in vocational school. After I graduate, I plan to continue my work as an author, while pursuing a career in the fire academy. I plan to become a part time firefighter in my home town, while continuing to do writing as my main career. I'm also a big fan of video games, primarily first person shooters. But I also like martial arts, and have been doing it since the age of six. I'm also a big cat lover, I have three of them, and one was a kitten we fostered who lost one of her legs after being hit with a car.

When and why did you start writing books?

I have always had an avid imagination for fictional scenarios. I've been imagining and thinking up stories and plots for as long as I can remember. And when I was about in 7th grade, I had imagined the idea for my franchise that I named "Kein Zurück". Essentially, Kein Zurück is a collection of all my stories, and my goal for Kein Zurück is to revolutionize fictional writing itself. Because stories are not only entertaining, but they are also powerful means to teach people important life lessons. Stories can motivate and inspire. Stories can provide people with valuable insight, and can encourage many to think critically. In short, the power of storytelling is one that can shape the course of history itself. And that’s where you come in – with your support, Kein Zurück can flourish, and touch the lives of billions. Kein Zurück is going to revolutionize the fictional landscape, but it’s also going to leave a footprint in the real world. And that footprint will be one that guides humanity to a better tomorrow.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

As an author, at first I wondered how my works would directly have an effect on people's day to day lives, and how important of a contribution it would be to society. And after talking with one of my EMT teachers, he told me something I will never forget: Entertainment is one of the most important things in people's lives. It can help take people out of the stress of daily life, and into a fun adventure. He even said that my creativity could help a lot of people in similar ways my skills as a medic could. To this day, I strive to make my work not only entertaining, but insightful. My stories are going to be ones that people remember their whole lives, and learn valuable lessons from.

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

In all honesty, I like them all. Especially as a writer myself, I can't choose. It's almost like asking a parent which kid they love more. In a way, your characters become a part of you, an extension of your being.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

Probably my first book, As the Earth Lay Dreaming. At the time, I was still in high school, as well as in EMT training. So, I had to find time to write that, all while balancing school, family, and extracurricular activities.

Who is your favourite author and book?

My favorite author is probably Stan Lee, and my favorite book is Animal Farm by George Orwell

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

Some writers I take inspiration from are Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Stephen King, J.R.R. Tolkien, H.P. Lovecraft, and Grant Morrison, to name a few. I also take much inspiration from science, religion, philosophy, and human nature as topics.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I like to play video games, practice martial arts, and hang out with friends.

Do you have any new books in the works?

Yes, in fact, I have almost a dozen! My writing career is only beginning, and from here, it only gets better ; )
