Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.
Originally from the Philippines, I am a professional website content writer and a self-published author based in Germany since I moved here in mid-2019. Though I spent around eight years in the freelance writing industry, I am more than passionate about writing stories through novel writing. At the same time, I spend time writing other things, from blogs to emails from people, responding to every message I get. I read printed and online content whenever I’m away from my desk. I spend hours watching YouTube videos of expert writers, screenwriters, and directors and having fun learning writing strategies to improve my skill set. Besides these things, I run errands daily as most ordinary, average married women without children would do. While I also ensure I’m not neglecting my mental health by spending quality time with people who truly care about me and accept who I am. A drama-free life.
When and why did you start writing books?
I started writing books when I was twelve years old. Back then, my family couldn’t afford a laptop or a PC, so I had to write each page by hand. Because of my hectic academic life, I barely had time to do it except in summertime until I got into college. At that time, I had a spare notebook with me, and when summer came, I jumped into writing the story until the last page. The question is why. As I mentioned in a few of my published posts on my website, writing is the only way to express myself without getting interrupted. In real life, I am socially awkward, though I was a licensed professional high school teacher before. Although I had a teacher's attention, I was never comfortable speaking in front of many people- more than my fingers could count.
What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?
After I left teaching, my colleague, who happened to be my former high school classmate, suggested writing, so I went back to writing and became a freelance content writer. It wasn’t until 2014 that my younger sister introduced Wattpad to me, leading to writing stories and self-publishing my first book last October this year.
Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?
I can’t say who’s my favorite because I love all of them. They’re unique in their ways, and each has strengths and weaknesses. So, I could hardly decide which of them was the best.
Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?
When I wrote my second Wattpad book called “Accidental Quest,” it was the toughest in my book writing experience. It required me to spare extra hours after working full-time during the day, and the story also compelled me to write more than 90K words for a single book title. For instance, I had to wake up at six o’clock in the morning to run errands before I started working, which could go on until late in the afternoon. Afterward, let’s say around five o’clock until ten or eleven o’clock in the evening, I spent for writing the story. And that went on for a month or so before I finished the book.
Who is your favourite author and book?
“House of Furies” by Madeleine Roux
What book are you reading right now?
“Dark Lover” by J. R. Ward
Where do you get your inspiration for your books?
I get inspiration from the boring daily lives of other people in combination with the right music, internet personalities, and of course, my personal life.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I love watching movies and documentaries that feature the complexities of being human in all facets: physically, psychologically, spiritually, and emotionally.
Do you have any new books in the works?
Yes, it’s an LGBT story called “Dr. Clay (Cult of Eros #1),” and it’s available on Wattpad.
