ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I was born in Buckinghamshire in the 1970s and at 17 I began working in mental health in the NHS. I have over 30 years experience of working in social care for charities and a housing organisation which forms the basis for a lot of the characters in my books. In between that work I have been the landlady of a pub in the UK and worked in bars in Spain. I lived in Spain for 7 years from the late 1990s and have since returned there which has given me the opportunity to finally start writing. I live with my partner of over 30 years and we have two grown up "children".

Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

It won't surprise you to hear that my main hobby is reading! I also enjoy swimming and going to the beach (mostly because it gives me an opportunity to read)

When and why did you start writing books?

I started writing as a child, I made my own "books" out of folded paper and handed them out to anyone who stood still long enough! I've been writing ever since, when I get an idea it needs to be written. I first self-published in 2022 and now have a number of books in the thriller and horror genres published out there in the big wide world.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

I love it, and who's going to turn down doing something they love?

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

This is a hard one, I don't like to play favourites! My favourite book would be "The Love of His Life" and my favourite character is a homeless man called "Big Bill" as this was my opportunity to raise awareness around rough sleeping and the reasons behind it.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

The Love of His Life - I wrote it from more than one POV and without too many spoilers there are very different character view points which meant "head hopping" quite a lot! I had to be a stalker, a psychopath, and the main character (Maggie.)

Who is your favourite author and book?

I'm a huge Stephen King fan, it's hard to pick a favourite but I'd go for one of his short story collections or Misery.

What book are you reading right now?

Hush, Hush, Honeysuckle by Katherine Black

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

Everywhere! The strangest things will trigger an idea, sometimes it's something I've seen on the tele or an incident while I'm out, and other times someone will come up with the seedling of an idea, and bang, it pops.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Apart from reading? Usually writing, watching tele with my other half, going to our local bar or meeting up with friends.

Do you have any new books in the works?

Mmmmm, I've got quite a few works in progress on the go! The one that's most likely to be finished first is "Save Us" which is another Win & Cleo supernatural thriller to follow "Willow Weeps."
