ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Fantasy author Natalie Johanson lives in the beautiful mountain valley of Utah with her two cats, Watson and Holmes, and her adorable wife. She spends far too much time staring out of windows, drinking tea, and buying books she’ll never have the time to read. Her debut novel, Shadow’s Voice, became an award-winning book, followed quickly by Shadow’s Past. The award-winning series, The Shadowstalker, continues to grow and monopolize much of her time and focus; not that she had much to begin with.

Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

I enjoy making sassy cross stitch projects for my coworkers. I am a cat mom and plant hoarder and fish keeper. I collect books more than read them these days, but that doesn't mean I don't love to read.

When and why did you start writing books?

I've always been writing books, ever since I could write. I started writing seriously in Jr. High school after reading the Green Rider by Kristen Britain. It just inspired me in a way no other book had or has since.

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

I think my most recent book is always my favorite, until I finish the next one. From the Shadowstalker world, I think Captain Sayla might be my favorite character. She's sassy, has no time for your nonsense, and tells it like it is. I love her.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

The one I'm currently working on, which is a separate series from Shadowstalker. It's an urban fantasy, which I've never written before and it's challenging me. I've also introduced a lot more points of view.

Who is your favourite author and book?

Kristen Britain, the Green Rider series. Something about that series just has stuck with me since I first read it. It's my live or die series.

What book are you reading right now?

I'm trying to find time to read the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Spare time? I'm unfamiliar with this phrase.

Do you have any new books in the works?

Yes! I'm working on my Urban Fantasy book (a sapphic lady death retelling...ish) and book 4 of the Shadowstalker Series.
