Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

Sure! My name is Nick Haskins. I’m 44. I reside in Toledo, Ohio. My hobbies would be hanging out with family and friends. We do everything in the summer, from theme parks to trying new restaurants we’ve never had before. My interests include good TV, good food, and entertaining my readership.

When and why did you start writing books?

Back in 2008, I worked at a call center. Sometimes, there were no calls for hours, leaving me bored stiff. I read all the gossip entertainment magazines during my shift to stay awake. Well, I got so tired of reading about Brittney Spears’ shaved head that I decided to pick up a book. When I got my hands on a Mary B. Morrison novel, I fell in love with the art of writing. I seriously started writing from there because I wanted to make readers feel how I felt as I read her work.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

I wanted a writing career because writing brings me so much joy and release. And just the thought of getting paid to do something I adore more than anything made me want it even more.

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

I don’t have a favorite book, but She’s Obsessed is my favorite book to read back to myself. I’m always so into it like I’m reading someone else’s work.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

I would have to say Betrayed was the hardest because of everything I was going through in my personal life. However, the good thing that came out of that dark time was I learned how to use my gift for good. I would take all the hurt and pain I was going through and give it to my characters. Betrayed was a bit of a struggle to turn into what readers read today, but it was a cathartic process for me that I really needed at the time.

Who is your favourite author and book?

My favorite author is any writer who can tell me a great story, and my favorite book would have to be The Coldest Winter Ever by Sister Souljah.

What book are you reading right now?

I have new books from James Patterson and Carl Weber on my Kindle now that I have not started yet, but I will this summer.

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

Usually, the characters come to me with their stories, storylines, and the book’s ending, ready for me to scratch it all out. But, other times, I can see someone—either on TV or in real life—that will turn into my muse for a new character or book, and I’ll create from there.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I enjoy being out and about. Whether it’s a trip to Walmart or a party, I’m ready to go!

Do you have any new books in the works?

Yes, I do! I have a new Family Drama book series dropping soon. The series is called Dark Waters (from my Kindle Vella story), and book one drops June 6th, 2023! Also, the She’s Obsessed audiobook will be available in May!
