ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Nicole is a Senior Business Analyst by day, a reader during meal time, and a writer while watching historical dramas. She discovered her passion for writing during a summer vacation when her husband’s truck died. While being stranded for five days with nothing to occupy her time she began writing. She writes historical American West romances set in the heart of Montana with swoon-worthy cowboys and feisty, independent women. She holds an MFA from Southern New Hampshire University.

Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

I'm a voracious reader and have been since I could read. I also love to do hand crafts cross-stitch, crochet, and my newest hobby of embroidery. I'm not very good at the embroidery but it's been fun to learn. I love historical dramas and books and sometimes I think that if I could go back in time, I'd be in heaven. The only problem with that is that I hate camping so going without plumbing or air conditioning might not be in my best interest.

When and why did you start writing books?

I started writing as a child and loved it but I never thought I was good enough until one day about 8 years ago, my husband and I were traveling and our truck had a major mechanical failure. We were stuck for five days when I had nothing to do so I decided to write a book. The joy I had from putting my stories down onto paper is something that I just can't describe. I love it and spend most evenings and weekends working on my stories.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

Because the characters in my head demanded their stories had to be told. Ever since I opened that floodgate, it seems more and more just speak louder than ever and eventually they'll get their stories too.

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

My favorite book so far is actually the one I'm writing now. It will be book six in my series and the heroine is a suffragist. I don't want to spoil it but she is one independent, feisty young woman who has a mind of her own but will find herself making decisions that are perhaps not in her best interest.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

So far none of them have been hard to write but I only have 4 published. I imagine that eventually I'll run into one that isn't so easy to write and I look forward to seeing what happens.

Who is your favourite author and book?

Now that is a very hard question to answer. LaVyrle Spencer is probably my all-time favorite. She wrote a novel called Sweet Memories that I read at the right time in my young teenage life that helped my insecurities in ways I couldn't have imagined.

What book are you reading right now?

A Deadly Edition by Victoria Gilbert and The Boyfriend by Freida McFadden

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

Random places but usually by some historical tidbit that I'll see on a show, a commercial, or even a conversation with friends. Once I have a basic idea, it snowballs from there.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Writing!

Do you have any new books in the works?

Yes
