Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

I work full-time as a physician in pulmonary and critical care medicine. I didn't use to have many hobbies and I immersed myself in medical practice. The pandemic changed that and I learned to set aside time for personal hobbies and interests. Now I enjoy gardening and acrylic painting.

When and why did you start writing books?

In early 2022 I had to take sick time off work for a few weeks. That gave me opportunities to reflect on life. I started writing as a way to organize and reframe my thoughts. Some of the writings turned into stories that were very well received when I shared them with my family and friends. My husband and daughter encouraged me to compile the stories into a book.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

My career will most likely remain in medicine. Writing is a fun side project at this point. I hope to write more and explore more topics as I move forward.

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

There are sixteen stories in Wake and I can relate to all the lead characters in every story. If I had to choose one, it might be the sparrow in "the sparrow and the hawk".

Who is your favourite author and book?

I am a fan of Cheryl Strayed and David Sedaris. The book I constantly read/listen to is "Tiny beautiful things". It's my bible.

What book are you reading right now?

Right now I am going through Time is a mother by Ocean Vuong.

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

Everything I see every day.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Gardening, painting, drawing, and writing. My daughter just started playing tennis and I am hoping to practice hitting the ball with her soon too.

Do you have any new books in the works?

I am slowly writing more stories either to add to Wake as a second edition or for a new book.
