R.B. Morgan

RB was born in a very rocky, desolate and remote part of the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia, Canada. Her community was similar to Anne of Green Gables. She spent her summers in a small fishing community hanging out in her grandparent's general store surrounded by relatives and friendly neighbours learning the old ways of living. The rest of the time, she lived on a point of land named after her ancestors. Her love of nature and history, as well as a love of young people, never left her and she now uses her skills and talents to create books for children and adults based on her own experiences.

Having been a single mother herself and a trained Public-School Program Assistant, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, cabinet making certificates, and TESOL training, RB creates the factual picture books she would have liked to read to her own son and students.

Passion for learning new things and exploring new places has led RB to many unexpected parts of the world such as Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, the Amazon rain-forest of Ecuador as well as the wilds of Northern British Columbia, Canada. What she writes and illustrates is based on direct personal experiences including her first children's book, Lake of the Spirit Bear, which is where she lived with her son for a time. All the illustrations RB did in this book were directly from photographs and true situations.
