Robert J. Mendenhall is retired Air Force, a retired police officer, and a former broadcast journalist for the American Forces Network, Europe. A member of Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America, Mystery Writers of America, Short Mystery Fiction Society, and International Association of Media Tie-in Writers, he writes across genres including science fiction, action and adventure, crime and suspense, and the occasional horror.

Mendenhall is currently writing the pulp-style action and adventure series Code Name: Intrepid set in the turbulent 1930s.  about a highly-skilled group of military and civilian daredevils who confront threats to the nation that “are outside the realm of normal occurrence, those menaces that are of unnatural or supernatural order.” Think zombies and the like. The team is made up of highly-trained individuals from the Army and Navy, as well as exceptional professionals from the civilian community. The team reports to the fictitious Office of Special Actions of the US War Department and works closely with the Department of the Navy. There is a core team of five full-time members and a cadre of as-needed consultants. They get intel from FBI, Army G-2, and The Office of Naval Intelligence.
