Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

Hi - I'm Robyn. I live in a small farming town in Western Australia with my creative hubby. I'm a bit cheeky but very sincere and down to earth.

When and why did you start writing books?

I've wanted to write children's books for a long time and have finally prioritized that dream to ensure I have an active interest and creative outlet heading into my retirement years.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

To ensure I had an ongoing interest, new things to learn and talk about with others, a creative outlet and a way to connect. Act, Belong & Commit!

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

Not released yet, but my favorite character is Stinky, a dog rescued from a shelter. He has a big personality, wisdom to guide his young owner, and just the right amount of cheekiness to keep things fun. Oh, and he farts a LOT! What kid doesn't giggle at a fart.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

I'm a new writer and have self-published two books.. My first book is a 500-word picture book for children aged 2 to 6, written in rhyme. I discovered that rhyming is harder than I imagined because, with such a small word count, every single word has to be perfect and purposeful.

Who is your favourite author and book?

Like many others, and sorry for the lack of individuality here, I love the writing style of J.K. Rowling. Her words are simple, but her characters and plot twists are not. She has such attention to detail but tells the detail in a straight forward way. Her writing style attracts people of all ages, what a skill.

What book are you reading right now?

Anything "How to Market Your Book" that can hold my interest for more than 15 minutes.

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

My husband! He's a kid of about 64 years of experience.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Travel Australia as much as we can.

Do you have any new books in the works?

Yes, I have finished writing and editing the first two books of a little series I intend to self-publish about a boy "TJ" and his dog "Stinky". I didn't realize that writing would be the easiest part of the process, but I'm enjoying the learning challenges that illustrating, publishing, and marketing bring. Well, maybe not so much the marketing bit!
