ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I am a pharmacist working in rural Australia. I love music, crochet, nature, cats and being creative. I recently gave birth to my son Jack and was inspired to create a story sharing his playfulness and cheekiness with the world.

Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

I'm Sarah, a pharmacist working in Far North Queensland, Australia, where I live with my husband, son and pets. I love my work as a pharmacist, reading, crocheting, playing music and playing board and video games. I am also a bit of a nerd and love Pokemon, Doctor Who, Bluey, etc. I also love trains, train travel, and even volunteer at a railway.

When and why did you start writing books?

I started writing at the start of this year, when I was motivated to create a story for my son's first birthday.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

After creating my book for my son, I decided it would be worth trying to see if anyone else would enjoy it too!

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

Of course Jack, based on my son, is my favourite character!

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

I've only written one so far, and it came to me fairly easily. However, I would love to do a 'choose your own adventure' style book, but that will require a lot more work to keep track of all the story lines!

Who is your favourite author and book?

Matthew Reilly and Kate Morton are two of my go-to authors. I love everything they have written. In particular, the Jack West Jr series by Matthew Reilly and The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton.

What book are you reading right now?

I am reading the latest Benjamin Stevenson novel, Everyone this Christmas has a secret

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

I got the inspiration for my first book while taking my son for a walk in his pram. My next book ideas are focussed around hobbies that I love, including trains, yoga and puzzles.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I love reading, crocheting, taking my son Jack to the playground (I love playing on the equipment with him), watching cartoons (especially Bluey and Ducktales), and hanging out with my friends and family.

Do you have any new books in the works?

I have just started the first draft of my next book about Jack. But its a bit too soon to say anything else!
