ABOUT THE AUTHOR

At twenty-six years old, I was forced to unexpectedly confront my mortality. After an MRI of my back, doctors incidentally discovered that I had numerous cysts throughout both of my kidneys and liver. Statistics suggested that the life I had envisioned was no longer within my grasp, and that my life expectancy had dropped dramatically.

Reflecting on the events that shaped who I am today, including a life-or-death struggle for a gun, multiple facial injuries, and even that very fateful diagnosis itself, allowed me to realize that I already had the strength I needed to confront my greatest challenge. More importantly, I also realized that same strength rests within each and every one of us. It is an ordinary strength.

We all have the ability to spin pain into power, doubt into belief, and fear into courage.

In my book, Ordinary Strength: We Already Have What It Takes, I use the lessons I've learned on my own journey to explain how anyone, starting this very moment, can tap into their own ordinary strength and conquer their adversity and follow their dreams regardless of what lies before them.
