When and why did you start writing books?

I've been writing since I was a kid, primarily really terrible and random things along with my friends. I didn’t start taking it seriously until around late middle school to early high school.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

Career might be a strong word at this point. It would be cool if it eventually evolved into a full-time career, but I enjoy writing and having stuff out there for people to read. It’s a fun, challenging, and rewarding experience. I just like being able to get these ideas floating around in my head onto a page and out there for someone else to consume and hopefully enjoy.

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

Man, this is hard. Probably Ronin from Renegades because that’s a character that I’ve been writing and rewriting for years and I feel like that character has grown along with me. Second place would be Edgy. Character started as a goofy name for a YouTube channel and evolved into a character in his own right that is just an absolute menace and is now part of a comedic sci-fi anthology series.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

Renegades was the hardest. I had to go back and find a lot of my old chaotic notes from previous versions of the story and then rework it into a cohesive narrative. Hardest part was figuring out how to start and where I wanted it to start and from which character’s perspective. I learned a lot of stuff while making that and I still feel like I’m learning stuff every time I look at it.

Who is your favourite author and book?

That’s tough to pick. On one hand, I want to say Tolkien and Lord of the Rings, but if I’m in the mood to laugh, I’ll say Douglas Adams and the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Dune is also fighting for the title of favorite at this point.

What book are you reading right now?

Tokyo Games by Yurie Kiri The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

It might be easier to say what doesn’t give me inspiration. I get inspired by pretty much everything including books, music, anime, and video games. One story in Tales of the EdgeWorlds had a major part of its premise and one of the central characters inspired by a joke I thought up while listening to a Bee Gees song (I’m not kidding).

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Video games, reading, making things in Blender, making videos for YouTube, listening to music, and occasionally fishing.

Do you have any new books in the works?

I am still actively developing Renegades 2 and outlining other projects that will be unveiled in due time.
