Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

Simon Bardwell is not my real name. When I started writing, I was still working and so I decided to keep my business life and my writing life separate. I love walking, bird watching, exploring new places, watching old films and listening to music.

When and why did you start writing books?

I started writing my first book in 2012 And I did so because my son Mark, got me interested in it. He has written a children's book. It was definitely a slow burn because it took me from 2012 to 2018 to finish it.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

This is an interesting question because I don't really view it as a career. I said his more as a “who I am” sort of thing.

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

My current favourite book is Breakfast at Brewer St. I enjoyed the research for it and I also enjoyed making up the characters. This far though, I have enjoyed Writing them all.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

Spindrift was the hardest one to write because it was the first book and I didn't know what I was doing. The bulk of it was written during NANOWRIMO

Who is your favourite author and book?

Kurt Vonnegut - Slaughter House 5

What book are you reading right now?

I have just finished reading Anna Kendricks book Scrappy Little Nobody. By the way, I really enjoyed it and I would recommend it to anyone.

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

Sometimes they come out of a talk with a friend. You know the type of talk when you just are shooting the breeze with somebody.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I love people and I like to have good, long chats with people. Especially if we make each other laugh.

Do you have any new books in the works?

Yes, I plan to publish two books this year. The first is a sequel to Truth which is in 3rd edit at the moment. The other is a historical novel which I have started and I plan to publish in the summer.
