This book is based on a true story about the author. It was the first day of school and she wanted to make an impression on her friends. However, the rain messed up her hairdo. The mean girls in school made fun of her hair, and it hurt her self-esteem. The author wrote this book to encourage young black girls to enjoy their natural hair because being natural is beautiful.
