What could be worse than finding out your very existence hinges on you being a weapon meant to save the world?

Elora Deane has discovered she possesses a power that no earthly creature has a right to possess. After she uses this power to destroy her nemesis, all she wants to do is hide away from the guilt of everything she’s done and the grief she feels at all she has lost. But her grandmother has other ideas and forces her to face a very stark reality: Elora has a job to do and she has to learn how to harness her power so she’ll be ready for what’s coming.

As much fun as that sounds there’s a lot going on in Elora’s life. She has to try and pick up the pieces of her makeshift vampire family as they all deal with their shared loss. She must contend with the powerful megalomaniac who is haunting her dreams and trying to steal her soul. And last but not least, there’s the handsome vampire FBI Agent who is back in town and seems intent on stealing her heart.

As if her life isn’t already in turmoil and because she rarely seems to learn her lesson, Elora agrees to help her friend once again with a new murder investigation. The grisly remains of a kidnapped girl are found in the Arizona desert and Elora knows she must do anything she can to help find the killer. And of course that decision will lead her into yet another web of deception and evil that threatens to be her undoing.

For an immortal that lacks an ability to focus, take things seriously or multi-task, Elora has to figure out how to get control of her life and do what must be done. And as usual, time is not on her side.

All Elora can hope for this time, is that no one else will pay the price for any of the decisions she makes and because of the secrets she is keeping.
