Set against the backdrop of pre-World War II Germany, Oscar grows up in a privileged environment, nestled within the upper echelons of society. His father, a renowned doctor, and his mother, the daughter of a respected local judge, provide him with a sheltered upbringing. However, as the Nazi regime ascends to power, their world is irrevocably altered.

Oscar's brother, Karl, becomes enamored with the Nazi ideology, embracing its principles wholeheartedly. Sensing the impending danger, Oscar's parents make the difficult decision to flee to Switzerland, seeking refuge and safety from the escalating persecution, especially for Oscar's mentally ill mother.

Meanwhile, Oscar's sister has sought sanctuary in England, vehemently opposing the Nazi cause from afar. Amidst the chaos and uncertainty, Oscar finds himself drawn young to a Jewish girl, defying the boundaries of societal norms and risking everything for love.

As the threat of persecution looms ever closer, Oscar is faced with a daunting task: to persuade his beloved and her family to leave Germany before it's too late?
