Buckskin Brigades

Honor. Spirit. Survival. A story of the Blackfeet Nation. “A thriller … [which has] an enthusiasm, even a freshness and a sparkle, decidedly rare in this type of romance.”—New York Times Greed crossed the mountains. Honor stood its ground. 1806. A young republic just three decades old—the United States of America—is preparing to press westward across the Mississippi, into a land as wild as it is breathtaking: a territory of towering mountains and violent rivers, icy glaciers and searing deserts—the great Northwest. Driven by greed and renowned for their ruthlessness, fur traders have already begun encroaching on the forbidden hunting grounds of the Blackfeet. When Captain Meriwether Lewis fires a bullet that kills a Blackfoot warrior, he ignites a conflict that will echo for generations—lighting the fuse between encroaching traders and one of the mightiest warrior nations on the plains. Caught in the fallout is Michael Kirk—known to his adopted people as Yellow Hair. Raised by the Blackfeet, bound by their honor, he is chosen as a silent envoy into the white man’s world. Tasked with infiltrating the fur traders, Yellow Hair must navigate a world of deception, greed, and shifting loyalties—all while protecting the culture that shaped him. Drawing from firsthand accounts, fur trade journals, and a lifetime of fascination with indigenous history, Buckskin Brigades is a sweeping saga of American history—a story of courage, endurance, and one man’s stand on the edge of a nation’s violent transformation. You will love this historical fiction of 19th Century America because, as the Durham Herald review states, it is “a crack adventure…exciting…historically accurate…. Buckskin Brigades presents a new struggle and a new scene in fiction.”
