Whoever said hope was a long walk in a naïve dream must have had Charlie Woods in mind.

Painted Roses is a novella commentating on modern society and the dying American dream as seen through the eyes of a recovering heroin addict named Charlie Woods. After becoming a victim of the cancel culture, this once-great writer finds himself unemployed and severely depressed. An old soul lost in a once familiar world.

Everything changes when a new friend suggests a different approach to fixing his broken life – microdosing Psilocybin. The low doses of the psychedelic allow for Charlie to journey down a path of enlightenment where he learns to rebuild every bridge he’s burned, all while pursuing his last shot at greatness.

The challenge in taking that shot is writing a show with the same actors that canceled him in the first place. However, if the show succeeds, the paycheck will cover his most sought-after trip - Ayahuasca retreat. There, he can finally experience what others have described as taking a walk with God.
