Cleared For Departure

This is a collection of short stories which capture the unforgettable highs and unpredictable lows of my years in the travel industry, told through the lens of travelling on standby in an era when anything could happen, and often did. From fun escapades to a few misadventures that went spectacularly wrong, these memoirs reveal the thrill, chaos and charm of navigating the world with no guaranteed seat, just a thirst for adventure and excitement. It is about the remarkable people that I met along the way from every corner of the globe, and those who joined in the adventures, many of whom became lifelong friends. Together, these stories form a humorous and authentic portrait of a life shaped by travel, chance and the extraordinary connections made in-between.
