A Step In Time 2

Kate Burns, a 23 year old craneway steel checker at the Richmond, CA shipyards, goes for a walk in a wooded area off the shores of Lake Anza. While walking, she stumbles, and feeling woozy, makes her way to the beach where everything goes black.
She awakens among strangers in a time not her own, in a body not hers, and with a husband and two children definitely not hers. Truthfully claiming to have no memory of them, she plays for time to try to figure out what to do. She learns they are planning to travel to California, and with westerns her favorite reading focus, she decides she was sent back to make sure they go well prepared for the venture.
Months later, with many ventures of her own behind her, she realizes her purpose and that her time to return home has come*, or has it?
Kate Klyce collapses in 1845 and awakes in a comatose body somewhere in the future with no way to communicate her awareness. She spends months listening and absorbing what she hears.
