As the brutal Kosi warriors continue their predation by kidnapping the women of Talin, fifteen year-old Sab-ra who has been trained as a spy for her people, burns to end their reign of terror. She brings poison to the captured women to use on their captors, but the mission goes hopelessly awry and Sab-ra's spy partner, Hodi, is caught and murdered. As a punishment for leaving her partner alone, the Elders banishy her to Maidenstone, an ancient school where she plans revenge on the Kosi warrior who executed her partner.
