Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

Greetings, my name is Gaston King and I'm an Author, Animal Caretaker, and Marketing Specialist. I have a passion for exotic animals, writing stories, and performing in local theatre.

When and why did you start writing books?

I first began writing in Middle School. I knew when I was first gifted an empty 70-page notebook in 6th grade I had the desire to fill it with as many stories my imagination could produce. I've written poetry, Sci-Fi, but always had enjoyed action & adventure styles with combat.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

I've wanted to grow as a creator on a multitude of platforms in a way and with a product that would allow me to give back to the local community. As an exotic animal caretaker at The Saint Augustine Wild Reserve I've created fun, factual stories that bring the reader for a joy ride through my imagination.

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

Justine Steele, he's the character I most relate to in the story The Connection Forging Steel. He's an animal lover; he fights for what he believes in, and he's not afraid to stand up for what he believes in.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

The Connection Forging Steel took me two years to write and six months to self-publish. It has been educational process. One that I found teaching myself and learning everything it takes to make a successful novel.

Who is your favourite author and book?

I enjoy R. L Stein's Goosebumps series, as well as Katherine Applegate's Anamorphs series. I try to combine the two into a fun and mysterious story.

What book are you reading right now?

Currently Fourth Wing. I've heard there is a lot of commotion with this intense and action-packed fantasy novel with dragons.

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

I obtain a vast amount of experience and knowledge from the animals I work with at the Saint Augustine Wild Reserve. But none more so than a beautiful coatimundi named Maya. She is the inspiration and who my first novel is dedicated to.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I enjoy writing, reading, performing, going to movies, and utilizing my marketing background.

Do you have any new books in the works?

The sequel to my first novel is currently in the works and I cannot wait to bring it to life! It's called The Connection Tempering Steel. I will reveal the cover in June of 2025!
