Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

I am the founder and president of the Craig D. Butler Scholarship Foundation, a Philly based nonprofit that offers scholarships to African American high school seniors. Outside of being a new author and philanthropist, I love to bake and travel.

When and why did you start writing books?

Writing this book came primarily from necessity. During the formation of my scholarship foundation, it was difficult to find information on how to start a scholarship foundation and how to start a nonprofit scholarship.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

Writing became my sense of healing after my father’s death by turning pain into purpose to help others start their own scholarship fund.

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

Since this book is a non-fiction how-to guide, the characters are me and my actual family members.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

Laying the Foundation Brick by Brick

Who is your favourite author and book?

Ta-Nehisi Coates - Between the World and Me

What book are you reading right now?

The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

My inspiration came from my scholars and my father's memory. I knew this book could take others on their altruistic journey of giving back and I also knew that sharing my experience of healing could lead to someone's survival.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Baking Reading and Traveling

Do you have any new books in the works?

Not at the moment
