My Blended Roots explores the lives of children born to first-generation immigrant parents or children who simply do not look like "the norm" people often define. Cassie is a young and vibrant young girl who tries to navigate the world of middle school while also dealing with feeling like she doesn't really fit into her multi-cultural background.

Growing up, children often feel alone when they don't fit into any preconceptions other people have. When Cassie's mom introduces her to her fiancé, Cassie quickly learns she is not alone in her feelings, but other individuals have gone through similar experiences and she learns that her appearance and cultural backgrounds are what make her unique and that there is not a "normal." We are all unique and that is what makes us all so special.
