A Culinary Cozy Mystery.

It’s the end of summer in the picturesque village of Gull Bay and April Hart, who inherited the Bluewater Café from her grandmother, is looking for new ways to bring in business over the winter months. Whilst trade is brisk in the spring and summer, the winters in Gull Bay can be slow and quiet and she desperately needs to keep the café open to pay for all the renovations that she has made.

t seems however that there is someone who doesn’t want her to succeed.

When her co-worker and late grandmother’s friend, Hope, finds one of April’s Toffee Crunch cakes in the bin it seems innocuous enough. It’s a mystery, and tiresome, but April thinks there must be a perfectly logical explanation even though one doesn’t immediately come to mind. The mystery of the cake in the bin is only the start though. When an accident befalls her cook, and her café suffers an arson attack, it appears that April’s problems are getting more and more serious. Whilst she tries, with the help of her friends, to uncover who is behind the problems and why, events take a sinister turn and April finds her own life is on the line.

For whoever it is will stop at nothing to close the Bluewater café down.

Ashley Cain is a writer who feels blessed to have lived on the small island of Jersey, the sunniest area in the British Isles. Burned at the Bake is the first book in the Gull Bay Mystery series. Whilst the small but beautiful island of Jersey is filled with sandy beaches and pretty bays, Gull Bay and it’s buildings and residents, exist only in the author’s imagination.

30% of the profits from the Gull Bay Cozy Mystery series is given to support women's charities on the island.
