Emery Benson was a prominent journalist from California. After failing to professionally cover a popular murder story, she was fired from her job. Thus, she returned back home to Jackson, Wyoming for a do-over.

On her first night, she knew the best way to get it over with was to get drunk so she visited a popular craft brewery where she met Mason Bates, the brewery owner. They flirted all night and ended up sleeping together.

Except after the walk of shame the morning after, Emery gets kidnapped by a group of men who were after Mason. Turns out, Mason is 500 grand in debt that was passed on to him by his late father.
