By Any Other Path (By Any Other Name Book 3)

He stole a captain's uniform. Now thirty-seven ships are counting on him to bring them home. The Gap is forty-eight hours of dark space where no fleet can reach you and the hyperspace lanes tear apart. The alien Krug hunt there unseen, cloaked inside the currents of dark matter. Captain Elias Thorne of the elite Special Operations Service must lead Convoy CE-7 straight through it.Except he isn't Elias Thorne. He is Ethan, a farm boy from Arcadia and a former petty officer who has worn another man's jacket through two campaigns. With four escorts, forty missiles and a dwindling fuel supply, he must outthink a wolf pack he cannot see while every merchant crew in the convoy trusts the hero they believe is in command. Then the ships start dying. Someone inside the convoy is signaling the enemy. A fellow captain is far too eager to seize Dr. Kate Haliday's dark matter research. Kate herself, still furious with Ethan, has refused the safety of his cruiser and sails on a slow freighter in the middle of the flock. And waiting at Earth is an order Ethan cannot survive: a routine biometric scan that will prove, within five minutes, that he is not the man whose name he wears.Every missile is precious. Every rescue leaves a gap in the screen. Every hour brings him closer to the truth.By Any Other Path is a tense, character-driven military space opera told in the tradition of classic convoy and submarine warfare, where command decisions carry real cost and the most dangerous enemy may be the lie at the heart of the bridge.Book 3 of the By Any Other Name saga, from the author of the Henry Gallant Saga.
