The Songs of Skygrass

Sixteen year old Sab-ra of Talin must escape from the city of Namche, now occupied by the Harn Army. Captain Grieg, the Garrison Commander, has threatened to strip her naked and hang her by her long red hair until she reveals the location of the blue diamond mine of her people. Sab-ra flees Maidenstone House to warn her people. Lost on the trail, she enters the Citadel of the Kosi, long enemies who have for generations abducted the young women of her people. She has been taught to fear and despise them. With few options, she agrees reluctantly to meet the young Kosi King and is stunned to find herself powerfully drawn to him. She urges Say-f, the Warrior King, to meet with her people and protect the Skygrass valley where the diamond mine is located. Together they travel to Sab-ra's village, Talin, and arrange for payment for the protection of the mine. When the Harn Army arrives in the Skygrass valley, Captain Grieg captures Sab-ra and takes her into the tunnels that riddle the great mountain range. She escapes and marries the Kosi King. Afterwards, when an avalanche forces Sab-ra to leave the Skygrass valley, Say'f stays behind. He promises to meet her in Natil when the war ends. But when she arrives, he is not there. Realizing she is pregnant, Sab-ra now faces a future and motherhood alone.
