Butch &
Louie's Book of Poetry is a clear example that poetry is everywhere; you
just have to know how to see it. The book begins by speaking in general
of what poetry is, and that anyone can enjoy it. It succeeds very well
with a variety of poems and carefully chosen words. Butch & Louie
express themselves in ordinary language, with everyday situations that
anyone can relate to, but in a fun and interesting way. Topics can be
objects, like talking about a hat, or it can be about travel, even
situations. However, it is not known what theme will follow. Some poems
have humor, others have a touch of irony or a twist at the end, with
wording that keeps you attentive and expectant.
It's very
entertaining to read Butch & Louie's Book of Poetry because it has
the magic to present the unexpected. It doesn't matter if the next poem
is long or short, or if it will talk about an object or something deep;
you know that it will be very different and creative. Its surprise
factor is very attractive. Butch & Louie's feelings are contagious,
that's why all their poems are enjoyable. Both children and adults can
read the content that will motivate them to seek creativity in everyday
stuff. This book is perfect to introduce new readers to poetry and to
demonstrate that formality is not necessary. The important thing is to
show what comes from the heart.
