ABOUT THE AUTHOR

D.H. Aire is the author of over twenty books. He writes fantasy with a sci fi twist, sci fi ranging from space opera to satiric cautionary adventures that some call pure escapism, and loves writing about the world as we know it coming to an end (said escapism again). His series include: Apocalypse Knot (Bigfoot Is Not Your Friend, Book 1), Bred in Captivity (Lessers Not Losers, Book 1), Highmage's Plight (7 book series), Hands of the Highmage (For Whom the Bell Trolls, Book 1), Knights Tower (Knight of the Broken Table, Book 1), and Terran Catalyst. Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

I love history and sci fi and fantasy. Oh, and researching my family history is one of my hobbies.

When and why did you start writing books?

I started writing in my teens and wrote the first book I published while in college, though I didn't get a contract for about thirty years. I've always loved telling stories and reading great stories made me want to write my own.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

I couldn't help myself. I had to write and for a long time it seemed I was only writing and rewriting for myself. When an editor wanted to publish my short stories I knew I needed to learn more about publishing, and I did.

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

My favorite book is Knight of the Broken Table, Book 1 of Knights Tower, which sort of jumped out of my soul one day.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

Bigfoot is Not Your Friend , Apocalypse Knot, Book 1, went through more rewriting than any other of my novels.

Who is your favourite author and book?

I have a lot of favorite authors: C.J. Cherryh and her novel, Downbelow Station, Anne McCaffrey's Dragonflight, Gordon Dickson's Tactics of Mistake, and, well, every book by David Weber.

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

I get my inspiration for legends, historic events. just about everything--include family pets, who inspire some unusual characters.

Do you have any new books in the works?

I am working on Bigfoot Apocalypse, Apocalypse Knot Book 4 at the moment.
