ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Born and raised in small town Northern Ontario, Canada, Carey Decevito has had a penchant for reading and writing for as long as she can remember.

A writer of erotic romance, paranormal romance, romantic suspense, and member of the Ottawa Romance Writers, this lover of food will throw in a bit of heat, a dash of sass, a pinch of comedy and a dollop of real-life experience in order to provide her readers with a story that will mess with their emotions from start to finish.

Family and friends are her lifeblood but Carey also enjoys conquering the outdoors, sports, traveling and playing tourist in Canada's National Capital region. When life gets crazy, she seeks respite through her writing and submersing herself in the latest addition to her library. If all else fails, she knows there's never a dull moment with her two daughters, her goofy husband and their dog who she swears is out to get her.

When and why did you start writing books?

I've been writing on and off since I was eleven. Most of my work back then consisted of poetry and short stories. In 2014, I stumbled upon an online writing venue and decided to take a shot at writing to see if there was any interest in my stories. From there, I decided to look at publishing, opting to self-publish. And the rest, as they say, is history! I'm the proud author of the Broken Men Chronicles series, the Essence Extract Trilogy, and the Nightshade series.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

My love for the written word, loving new challenges, and expanding my craft. I'm a prolific reader, but writing has always been my passion, so why not make it a profession?

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

I'm in love with Devolin from Night Break, the first book in my Nightshade series. If you have a love for Penelope Garcia from Criminal Minds or even Abby Shiuto from NCIS, you'll simply adore her spunk, sassiness, and grit.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

Every book brings its new set of challenges. I find that my challenge lies in expanding beyond my knowledge by ensuring that facts are straight. Even though I write fiction, I strive for accuracy in all things, even after having done my research.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I like to unwind with a fantastic book. Mostly in the romance genre with mystery, suspense, and heat. I'll read mostly anything that strikes my mood and/or interest, however.

Do you have any new books in the works?

I have two, and always a slew of new ideas that I slowly piece together. As I'm a pantser, I generally try to write down notes here and there when a new idea, character, or plot comes to mind.
