Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

I am a former special education and kindergarten teacher. I live in Virginia and love spending time with my grandkids and my horse, Ghost.

When and why did you start writing books?

I loved to write as a child but I didn't think about writing seriously until I was in my mid-forties. I think that's when I finally had the confidence to go for it.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

I'm not sure I thought of writing as a potential career. I just always had a lot of stories in my head that I wanted to share with other people.

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

I am not going to lie--I'm a little bit in love with my main character Gabe in SAVING SOPHIE. He is so conflicted, but also such a romantic!

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

I think the hardest book to write so far is the one I'm currently working on. It's called COME DREAM WITH ME and has a lot of characters in it who have disabilities.

Who is your favourite author and book?

I have so many favorite authors but my most favorite is Dick Francis, who wrote horse-racing mysteries. My favorite book of his is THE EDGE.

What book are you reading right now?

I am reading a Tony Hillerman book called TALKING GOD. He is another of my favorite authors.

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

I get most of the inspiration for my books from the students that I worked with as a high school disabilities teacher.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Any day with my horse or my grandkids is a good day!

Do you have any new books in the works?

I am working on COME DREAM WITH ME and a middle-grade novel called SPIRIT OF THE FALCON. Also, I have a middle grade short story coming out in an anthology in July called HAUNTED STATES OF AMERICA.
