ABOUT THE AUTHOR

As a lifelong lover of books, I've always had a great appreciation for writers and their craft. Over the course of my 50+ years living in different places around the world, I've written a few things, but never took the time to sit down and try to write down any of the books I've dreamed up, until a new opportunity opened up in 2021.

About me: I grew up in the Midwest and went to a big state school known as much for their football team as anything else. I studied English Literature and History. It was there that I met my wife and we fell in love. We were married when I was in graduate school and during our first few years working after graduation, God showed us the opportunities to be involved in His work around the world.

Since 2000, we've lived outside of the United States, having many amazing experiences and meeting people from around the globe. My experiences traveling and my background in counseling are highly influential in my writing.

Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

In addition to a love of writing and reading, I love hiking in the woods and spending time with friends. Family game nights and strategy board games are two of my favorite activities.

When and why did you start writing books?

When I was in high school, my English teacher, Mrs. Morton read a short story that I wrote and accused me of plagiarizing it. From that time on, I thought I might have a knack for writing, but after years of other experiences, it finally took the 2020 Covid lockdowns and being banned from my country of residence to keep me in front of my computer long enough to finish my first book.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

After experimenting with writing serial stories and seeing some success, I decided that I both enjoyed writing enough to do it full time and could make money doing it.

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

Big Al from After It's Over is the friend that everyone wants in their corner in a jam.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

After It's Over was difficult because of the painful topic (The end of the world and personal loss). Finding my way through that story to the ending I wanted was very difficult.

Who is your favourite author and book?

Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. Lewis was a brilliant thinker and writer and I admire the way he was able to communicate deep ideas through both fiction and non-fiction.

What book are you reading right now?

Just finished Wildoak, a brilliant tale for young and old alike.

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

Books and movies I've enjoyed, as well as real life topics we see in the public eye.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Spending time with family and friends.

Do you have any new books in the works?

Yes! So many. The first book in my fantasy trilogy will be out soon and I'm working on a Historical Fiction novel centered around the Oklahoma landrun.
