ABOUT THE AUTHOR

My name’s Jeb Wright and I wrote the book Blast from the Past. The book takes place in the 1980s, which isn’t such a big surprise, as I have been accused of living in the past. Okay… I’m guilty as charged. I ran a very popular website for 20 years called Classic Rock Revisited, that featured interviews with old rock stars. I love hard rock from the 1970s and the early 1980s. I also really love cheeseburgers and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Here is a secret I don’t tell everyone: I was wild back in the ‘80s. It was pretty much out of control. I was a train wreck. Now I am a good boy. I’m just like that old Van Halen Song… “Big Bad Billy’s Sweet William Now.” You get it. So, I write about the past a lot. I make stuff up. I make people up. I borrow some from my past and fictionalize it. Sometimes, like in my book Blast from the Past, there is even a ghost- not a terrifying one, but one that smokes clove cigarettes and is an alcoholic. He’s based on my best friend…who’s dead.

Oops, I forgot to tell you that I live in freaking Kansas. I’ve been married a LONG time to a sweet little angel of a woman…and I have two kids that are MUCH better humans than I will ever be. My favorite song is “Carry On Wayward Son” by the band Kansas. I keep hoping they are correct when they sing, “They’ll be peace when you are done.” So far…no go. But a man can hope.

Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.

My name is Jeb Wright...I love classic rock music. I used to own and operate http://www.classicrockrevisited.com, for 20 years. I traveled across America, interviewed over 1000 rock stars and have been featured in books and magazines across the world. I, also, am a husband, father, grandfather and a pretty good guitarist.

When and why did you start writing books?

I have always loved writing. The ONLY award I ever won in school was in 7th grade for creative writing. I guess I just come by it naturally. It makes me feel deep emotions to write. I want the reader to feel the same things I do.

What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?

Still working on that one! It is my dream to be a bestselling author. As far as why I write... I just can't help it.

Which one of your books or characters is your favourite?

Zeke..... he is in my book Blast from the Past. He is just a fun loving, beer drinking wild man...with a heart of gold. He would be a good friend in real life. Just love Zeke.

Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?

Blast From the Past is my first novel, so I suppose that is it, thus far. The new one I am getting ready to start will be much more challenging, as it is based on a true story....I like it when it is difficult as that means I am reaching deep.

Who is your favourite author and book?

Tough one! It is a tie. I really love Breakfast of Champions by Kurt Vonnegut and I love Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson.

What book are you reading right now?

I am not reading one because I am writing one! When I write I block out everything!

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

My inspiration comes from life. I love creating people and challenging situations. I like smudging reality with fiction. I love growing relationships in books. I get to create an entire world! Is there anything cooler than that?

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I listen to rock music, read books about rock music artists, and play guitar. I walk a lot--and listen to rock music while I am walking. Other than that,... my favorite pastime is playing with my two granddaughters and hanging with my wife and kids.

Do you have any new books in the works?

Yep..... I don't want to give it all away but it will feature very interesting characters living together through troubled times that they brought on themselves. It will be emotional...angry, traumatic, sad, yet, happy. It is Man against the System, and it is the story of finding friendships in hard times.
